There will be no advent calender this year. Thanks to the actions of one individual posting my artwork without my permission on Deviantart, I am no longer willing to share TF related artwork in the way I have done in the past. I'll continue to do commissions, create paycomics and post pages of 'Red Alert', but for now at least, I'm afraid free material is at an end. I know this will disappoint some people and I'm sory, but I don't want my more adult material posted all over DA and they guy responsible responded by being a total psycho when I asked him not to. So, no more. Sorry.
Seriously? You have become an unbelievable dick as of late. This is from a once huge fan by the way, but wow, just wow. Could you be any more spiteful and petty? I imagine it sucks having your work stolen, but you'd really treat your entire fanbase poorly because of one person? What is the matter with you? Listen, you're a talented artist, but all you've done is basically draw the same scene and concept over and over again, most of the time with copyrighted characters, so get over yourself. Keep working on that no-nudity, endlessly drawn out comic or charging fairly unreasonable prices for comics that are behind uninspired, that's what your fans truly want, clearly.
ReplyDeleteThis is the exact kind of comment that makes an artist want to quit. You could have taken this time to maybe try to actually convince him. You're a complete idiot.
DeleteOh like your doing , dumbass
DeleteOh like your doing , dumbass
DeleteActually I did. I got the asshole to actually stop posting Manic's work. Most of all, I didn't insult the artist I'm a fan of like some kind of child.
DeleteShut up. I'm not gonna kiss this prima donna's ass because I can live without the same tired sequences played out to death. But by all means, keep white knighting for whatever bizarre reason you have. Not sure why you'd want to support someone who treats their fans like this, but whatever, it's your time to waste...
DeleteEntitlement much? Real Life says nobody owes you anything. What's given freely can be taken away freely. The artist gets to set the boundaries of his/her work, not you, me or anybody. It's not the one person... It's the attitude, that you always are entitled to what you want (or steal if you can't have it). That's the attitude of the Thug on the street or an art thief on DA.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear this and it's too bad that a creative individual like yourself has to deal with this kind of nonsense.

ReplyDeleteOkay, I get your pissed off and you have a right to be, but screwing over the rest of your fans because of one a$$hole, sounds pretty stupid and crass to me.
ReplyDeleteRemoving bookmark and you just lost a devoted fan, I understand your upset and you should be. But making this big of a decision because of one person is unfair to your fan-base.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I don't think this has entirely been an isolated incident. Some idiots were giving him grief over at his Yahoo group earlier this year, and he warned back then that if people carried on acting like that, he'd reduce or pull the plug on the stream of free content.
DeleteSo yeah, it's disappointing that things have turned out this way, but I can definitely understand why it's come to this, especially if he's been having to deal with more crap out of the public view.
Your talent and creativity has frankly progressed to the point where you're better off focusing on bigger and better things anyway. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteFree stuff or not, I'll always be a fan just like I have been for over 12 years. Hate that one bad egg has to ruin things for the rest of us but I totally understand the need to focus on your paid commissions. You're always going to be a inspiration to me as a fellow artist and fellow Shulkie fan :)
ReplyDeleteTwo decades of internet has created an entitled class. Just look at what happened to the music biz: free is the new normal. It's time to concentrate on paysets and commissions Manic, you've held off for as long as you could. At least you'll get some cash before the stuff inevitably ends up somewhere you didn't authorize.
ReplyDeleteI kind of suspect that something like this was in the air after I noticed that most of the past years artworks disappeared. As much as I don't like this, having suffered from a similar situation first hand I understand your stance.
ReplyDeleteI can only hope that, in time, this will change and some of those pictures will reappear, in the meantime I'll keep following you on DA.
Well that's just disappointing. I was really looking forward to this year's advent calendar. Do you at least have an alternative in mind?
ReplyDeleteSo if I read this right you're gonna punish everyone who comes to your blog sight because of a few people? I'm disappointed in you and those who stole from you. I'll be looking forward to seeing of your art on deviantarts as time goes by. Happy Holidays and blessings of the season.
ReplyDeleteThat really sucks, man! However I understand your reasons. I hope there would be a way to protect anyone's creations from theft once they hit the Internet, but it's pretty difficult unless you add a watermark with your name and a legal disclaimer allover it...
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I wish you Happy Holidays and keep up that cool work of yours
Manic I'd like to say I saw this individual posting your art on Deviant. This was all art he scrapped together from Google Images after you got rid of it from this blog earlier. MAYBE if you'd bring it back he wouldn't have to do stuff like that.
