I'm making a comic that is in the style of the 1982 Hulk cartoon and a more innocent era of comics in general. Note the dialogue where the characters state the immediately obvious! Later on, I shall attempt some kind of rational explaination for why Banner's clothes reappear after he changes back from the Hulk. This is a fan- produced and entirely not for profit comic. All characters are the copyright of Marvel Comics.
Interesting, is this the return of the Red She Hulk.
ReplyDeleteAre we seeing a new storyline or is this picking up where the Beauty is the Beast left off?
ReplyDeleteNo, this is something new.
DeleteWhat happened to all the other why did you get rid of it
DeleteOoooooh,
ReplyDeleteI sense an epic battle brewing...
My money is on the Red She-Hulk, cant wait!
It will be interesting to place the very modern Red She-Hulk into a Silver Age setting.
ReplyDeleteSparks will fly, hilarity will ensue!
ReplyDeleteThis story's promising. Can't wait to see the rest! =D
ReplyDeleteOh wow,
ReplyDeleteNow we see the entrance of one Jennfier Walters, aka The Savage She-Hulk! I had a feeling she was going to show up in this and I'm glad you decided to have her along for the ride Manic.
I can't wait for the next set of pages as I have a good feeling the Savage She-Hulk is going to make an appearance, clothes-ripping and all! :D
Great job on the pages man, keep up the great work!
Well, we've finally arrived at the first payoff. You've certainly captured the spirit of MODOK and the AIM agents in this latest page.
ReplyDeleteEagerly awaiting the next installment for obvious reasons. :)

I think the best part of this series is that you are taking your time with each page, enjoying yourself with the nods to previous artists and letting some nostalgia into things.
ReplyDeleteDid not expect to see another page of Red Alert until after the new year. But I am no complaining one bit!
ReplyDeleteWell, I have to say that I'm glad to see that *this* TK421 is actually at his post. "Project Harpy", nice reference to the comics. I also like how the AIM agents are completely ignoring Betty's attempts at communication. She's probably no more than an experiment to them. A very nice page with a good sense of foreground scale in that initial panel, with Betty up front and the AIM goons behind the glass in the background.
Thanks! I had more time on my hands today than expected so I used it to finish off this page. I think it was a worthwhile expenditure of my time!
DeleteUh-Oh,
ReplyDeleteHere comes the Harpy once again, nice! I always liked the fact that Betty became the Harpy and I got a feeling you are going to do this one justice. Great pic, liked that Betty is going to be tied for this TF as well. :)
Great job Manic, looking forward to the next pic!
Don't be too sure about Betty becoming the Harpy! She is getting the source of her gamma power from the Hulk himself. I'm figuring that the end result of this exercise will be a new female Hulk! :)
ReplyDeleteZ
Love the fluid movement and facial expression in the "Ole!" panel!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo,
ReplyDeleteThe Betty transformation picks up again! :D Niiiiiiiiiiiiice pic Manic, I like the angry/irritation shot of Betty as she is about to undego her own transformation soon! I also like how power you have drawn the Savage She-Hulk here. She's thick, she's powerful, an incredible speciman of a woman!
I look forward to this TF man, this is getting good! :D

This is some epic production! Amazing...
ReplyDeleteA nice classic twist on the Red She Hulk, bringing her metamorphosis in line with the Savage She Hulk. I particularly like the facial transition as the red highlights of Doom become visible, always nice to see the changing facial expressions of someone metaphorically and literally losing themselves to an inner consciousness.
ReplyDeleteA job well done, very very well done indeed especially the "red" ending. It is truly a shame you don't make millions and are world reknowned for your style and artwork Manic. You deserve every bit of recognition. B-)
ReplyDeleteThe emphasis to remind us all that AIM employs regular people is a nice touch. Reminds me of some lines from a Deadpool comic about them having the best dental care plans out of the evil organisations. Hydra are the worst.
ReplyDelete"Hulk think that a little uncalled for." LOL!! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteWell, Hulk, unless you want the same, I think you'd better keep such comments to yourself... Dang, but RSH is even more grumpy in the early 80s than she is today! A different twist of Bruce (eventually) knowing her identity before Betty knows his. And poor She-Hulk! Good thing she was traveling too fast through that AIM shower to have seen much - although those AIM scientists all looked pretty fit. That must be one heck of a dental plan.
ReplyDeleteGreat work - glad you haven't gotten bored with it yet because I haven't.
ReplyDeleteLOL,
ReplyDeleteWow, the latest pages are CLASSIC Manic! I really enjoy watching Betty Savage She-Hulk lay it into Hulk because he kept his secret from her. Nothing more awesome then a married pair of Hulks battling it out and the Savage Red She-Hulk busting up the big, green lug. :D
The dialogue was fantastic here, you have a great way of storytelling these sort of scenes man. Fantastic job on the art and I'm loving those tatters Betty is sporting.
Great stuff once again Manic, thanks for sharing your works with us!
As I said over DeviantArt, I liked how you captured MODOK's sadistic delight at Red She-Hulk and the Incredible Hulk's bickering, and I also look forward to the next updates you have in store!
ReplyDeleteI really hope Jennifer and Betty's clothes don't also magically appear.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am enjoying this series, would it be fair for me to guess that this has spun a bit out of hand, Manic?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean?
DeleteWell, did you always plan on this comic to get this big, or what?
DeleteHmmm.... Not originally, but now I plan for the whole thing to run to a hundred pages.
DeleteNot only regenerating clothes, but it looks like Shulkie has an easier time changing to Jen than vise versa.
ReplyDeleteI love it!!! "SPIDER-MAN AND HIS AMAZING FRIENDS: ICEMAN AND FIRESTAR"!!!
ReplyDeleteThis whole story is taking a pretty interesting turn. What's cool about it is if they had introduced Red She Hulk during this era of the comics, this is probably pretty close to what they would have written. I mean that time was littered with cameos from other characters.
ReplyDeletePeter, Bobby, & Angelica! What an "amazing" surprise! That cartoon was probably the best time Marvel created a totally non-comic book scenario for a kids show.
ReplyDeleteMost awesome thing on the internet! Thank you for being the best She-Hulk artist for the past decade!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the update! I look forward to the next one, Manic.
ReplyDeleteYou are too cool for school Manic. (How's that for an obscure 80s catchphrase?)
ReplyDeletePage 38 pretty much brings me back to Saturday mornings on NBC. ^_^ Awesome job.
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me that Firestar has only made the Red She-Hulk stronger...
ReplyDeleteFirestar's butt looks great in that last panel!
DeleteI liked the cover update, Manic!
ReplyDeleteI thought you would individually show how the Red She-Hulk thrashed Firestar and Iceman, Manic!
ReplyDeleteJust as I suspected - Firestar's attack backfired!
ReplyDeletere the explanation for clothes repairing themselves automatically: I suddenly have a vision of the TARDIS slamming into a pair of shredded, stretched purple trousers as it spins through the time/space continuum.
ReplyDeletethanks Manic
Good to see this going again...
ReplyDeleteHi Manic, I really like your comics and a long time fan. Can I buy some from you a a discounted price. My email is king22222000@yahoo.com.
ReplyDeleteIs Dr. Arkeville part of the Marvel Comics Universe? I don't believe I've encountered him before.
ReplyDeleteI had to look this guy up on the Transformers Wiki, as I'm not that well-versed anymore regarding these characters. For the style and tone you're going for with this comic, I think he was a great choice! As you mentioned, you *could* have gone with someone like The Leader to keep everything MU, but I just can't see him working well - or at all - with MODOK. Arkeville, on the other hand, seems tailor-made to this kind of villain team-up. Looking forward to seeing what evil plans the pair have for Bruce...as well as the Jen/Betty conversation which I'm sure will be quite "interesting".
ReplyDeleteexcellent work as ever
ReplyDeleteSo excellent!
ReplyDeleteAaaahhh! A lovely start to 2017 and I hope to see this glorious series gain a satisfactory conclusion.
ReplyDeleteLikewise!
DeleteI wonder if Jenn's car has some gas left after that trip... =P
ReplyDeleteSo far, the story is going SO good. Thank you very much for doing this, Manic. I really love what you're doing here
Hello! I met your blog today and was amazed by your work. Oh my God, it's wonderful! I also met other drawings, such as the transformations of Wonder Woman in "Hulk", something that shocked me. I have to admit I have a little appreciation for female muscle growth. I believe this started with a cartoon "Superfriends" in an episode called "The Beasts Are Coming" where Wonder Woman is affected by the radiation of a broken satellite and is transformed into a huge Hulk-like creature. When I was little, I was scared, my heart was pounding as if it were coming out of my mouth. It was a mixture of anguish, sorrow, and excitement. This sensation lasted until she returned to normal. When I had matured, and watched the episode again, I felt an involuntary excitement. It was this feeling I had in appreciating his art, especially in two drawings. One in which Wonder Woman appears being struck by lightening and becoming "She-Hulk", and another where a doctor undergoes a transformation in the middle of the street. Follow the links:

AND THIS ANOTHER:

Wow! You are a MASTER IN THE ART OF CREATING IMAGES. Facial expressions, female body contours, muscles growing. It's all very exciting. I'd like to ask you a favor: Could you recreate three scenes from the episode "The Beasts Are Coming" with your art? Let me explain: Do some kind of "upgrade" with your art? I would love to see Wonder Woman in the classic costume, but with her wonderful feminine contours being gradually transformed into "Hulk" just as you do with your representations.

THIS LAST, IS PERFECT TO RECREAT. I WANT SO MUCH YOUR ART! See the video bellow.

I would very much like to see a Wonder Woman scene turned backwards, legs open and turned, arms outstretched, and hands close to the head being affected by the satellite (in the same way as it is shown in the scene of the episode, with the uniform classic and gaining muscle contours like you already did. Please, I provided the link from youtube that I would like you to recreat. Thank you so much for the great dose of adrenaline and excitement you provided with your art! Congratulations! YOU ARE A MASTER!
There more?
